After events like the devastating earthquake and subsequent tsunami in Japan in March 2011, the interest in large-scale evacuation (due to atomic plant failure) simulations has grown enormously. This creates the necessity of simulating scenarios where unforeseeable exceptional events occur. Since this requirement conflicts with traditional, iterative simulation approaches, the goal of an ongoing research project is the development of an alternative simulation approach. Matthias Kowald
